Where are you located?
I am in Huntington, West Virginia, and I regularly travel throughout West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky for assignments. Many projects can be completed entirely by phone and email, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you're located elsewhere.
How much do you charge for copywriting and editing?
I love what I do, and I keep my rates low so that I can continue working with clients large and small. Because no two projects are the same, I price each one individually. Depending on your budgetary needs, I'll be glad to provide a quote before we get started so there are no surprises. After we talk through the details of your project, I'll put together a quote, timeline and billing process tailored to your specific needs. With my established clients, I use a set hourly rate to keep things simple.
How much do you charge for feature articles?
I love feature writing! I love reading it, writing it and editing it. Whether you're a low-budget startup or big-city magazine, I'd be honored to write for you. Most publications set their own article fees, and that's perfectly fine with me.
What's your turnaround?
That depends on my current workload and the scope of your project. If you're on a tight deadline, let me know and I'll tell you upfront if I can accommodate your schedule. Even if you're not in a rush, I'll still provide an estimated date of completion. I can usually write a one-page article or news release in two or three days, and a total website rewrite typically takes six to eight weeks.
When should I involve you in my project?
As soon as you'd like! Some clients involve me as soon as they have a rough idea of what they're looking for, and others prefer to write their own copy and send it my way for polishing and proofreading. Others complete all of their writing and editing in house, utilizing me as one final set of eyes.
I'm looking for a long-term copywriter for ongoing projects. Are you interested?
Absolutely. I've worked with many of my clients for several years. They reach out to me whenever they need something written or edited, using an agreed-upon hourly rate and payment schedule. Running all of your communications through a single writer and editor is invaluable when you want a consistent voice and style, a writer who is already familiar with your company and a hassle-free payment setup.
What do you know about my particular industry?
My industry experience includes health care, natural gas, higher education, nonprofits and the law. I enjoy doing research and exploring new areas, so if I haven't written for your industry I promise I'll get up to speed quickly.
Do you offer graphic design?
You don't want me to offer graphic design. Trust me! I do work with a very talented network of freelance designers and others who can help you meet your design goals. Email me for a recommendation.
Do you allow revisions?
Of course! A project is not complete until both you and I are satisfied. Revisions are totally free, unless they involve substantial changes to your original message or scope. I ask detailed questions before getting started to make sure I have a clear understanding of your project, and as a result revisions are almost always minor.
